As part of our central mission to provide robust and timely evidence for decision making, the Climate Evidence Unit have been commissioned to provide evidence submissions to assist on a number of recent national and international legal challenges.

Our Climate Evidence Unit has provided expert witnesses statements synthesising the latest scientific thinking and providing authoritative evidence helping to challenge key climate issues, including failures to set emissions-reduction targets or limits on consumption-based emissions, and government policies that prioritise offsets over reductions at source.

We can work flexibly with legal teams to scope the key questions, synthesise evidence sources and provide rapid responses to help shape assessments, expert witness statements and affidavits. This support is designed to ensure that legal arguments are grounded in the best available scientific evidence at critical decision points.
