Indicators of Global Climate Change

The Indicators of Global Climate Change (IGCC) initiative provides annual updates on the state of the climate and how it is changing due to human influence, by updating key climate indicators reported by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

The initiative started in 2023 to address the  information gap between IPCC assessments, providing policymakers with the most up-to-date evidence on how the climate system is changing year-on-year.

This year’s update was released on 11 June 2026 and has been produced by an international team of over 70 scientists, including former IPCC Lead Authors, Contributing Authors, and Chapter Scientists, from 56 institutions across 17 countries.

From 2026, the production of IGCC has been contracted by the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) and the Copernicus Climate Change Service  (C3S), implemented on behalf of the European Commission.

IGCC is also working with ECMWF to develop a user-friendly platform for tracking, visualising and understanding these indicators.
