Nominations for 2024 prizes

We are delighted that nominations are now open for our 2024 Piers Sellers Prizes.

Piers Sellers PhD prize

The Piers Sellers PhD Prize is designed to reward and encourage current PhD students from the University of Leeds for undertaking excellent research to better understand and/or address climate change. The award of £500 will enable the winner to further develop their research career by supporting activities such as attendance at a conference, access to field work, or relevant training.

We are now accepting nominations for the 2024 award. Nominations should be made by University of Leeds staff (supervisors and group leaders). Please note self-nominations are no longer accepted.

Nominations will be assessed by the judging panel made up of the Priestley Centre Executive Committee based on one or more high-quality publications (not limited to peer-reviewed journal publications, and including those accepted but not yet published), research outputs, and/or impact resulting from the nominee’s PhD research.

The deadline for nominations is 17:00 on Tuesday 7 May 2024. Please complete the nomination form (Word doc) and email it to climate@leeds.ac.uk.

Priestley Centre Prize for impactful research-led collaboration

New for 2024, the Priestley Centre prize for impactful research-led collaboration celebrates climate-related projects and initiatives that involve collaboration between University of Leeds staff and/or students and non-academic partners, which have demonstrated impact in the spheres of policy, innovation, or education.

We are now accepting nominations for the 2024 award. Nominations are invited from the University of Leeds staff and students. Nominations will be assessed by the judging panel based on evidence of impact and, where appropriate, research outputs.

The recipient(s) will be invited to the Priestley Centre to provide a seminar and to engage with the Priestley Centre community.

The deadline for nominations is 17:00 on Tuesday 7 May 2024. Please complete the nomination form (Word doc) and email it to climate@leeds.ac.uk.
