Climate Ambassadors

The Climate Ambassadors programme is funded by the Department for Education as part of its Sustainability and Climate Change Strategy, which states that all education settings in England are expected to have a designated Sustainability Lead and a Climate Action Plan by 2025.

In December 2023, the Department for Education partnered with the University of Reading, the Alliance for Sustainability Leadership in Education (EAUC), STEM Learning and nine partner institutions to deliver the Climate Ambassadors programme for all 30,000 education settings across England.

Nine regional hubs have been established across the country to support the Climate Ambassadors programme with the University of Leeds hosting the Yorkshire and Humber regional hub.
