Christmas and carbon compensation!
- Date
- Wednesday 19 December 2018, 15.00 - 16.00
- Venue
- Priestley Building hub (level 10)
Priestley Centre members are invited to celebrate the festive season in true Priestley style with mulled wine and mince pies – and a chance to reduce your carbon emissions.
The Priestley International Centre for Climate is setting a precedent in collaboration with the United Bank of Carbon. An anonymous donor has offered to compensate Priestley Centre members’ carbon dioxide emissions from flying in 2018. We plan to use this to make a preliminary estimate of our own footprint and then initiate a plan for ensuring we conduct our research as sustainably as possible and to get to zero carbon as soon as possible. Your help developing this plan is also solicited!
Please complete the simple table here to provide us with information about your 2018 business flights and send it to climate@leeds.ac.uk. We will calculate the carbon footprint of your 2018 business flights and the United Bank of Carbon will compensate this through tree planting in the tropics. (Please do not include flights that have already been compensated for through other schemes.)
Please send the completed sheet to climate@leeds.ac.uk by 9th January 2019
We look forward to seeing you for some festive fun! Don’t forget to bring your own mug. Christmas jumpers are optional …
