Mary Osei-Wusu, SB64 Delegate

What's your area of work and how does it relate to SB64?

My research focuses on flood management in Ghana, particularly how historical institutional arrangements, political dynamics, and dominant flood framings shape responses, vulnerability, and the overall effectiveness of flood management. This closely relates to SB64, especially discussions around climate adaptation, vulnerability, and resilience in the Global South.

What are the big issues that SB64 needs to address?

My hope for the conference is that it advances actionable commitments on adaptation, particularly for countries disproportionately affected by climate change. These commitments and measures should be context-sensitive to reflect the local realities of affected communities rather than relying solely on technocratic solutions. I also hope SB64 strengthens collaboration between researchers, policymakers, and practitioners and creates space for more inclusive perspectives from the Global South in shaping global climate governance discussions.
