Fiona Chong, SB64 Delegate

What is your area of work and how does it relate to SB64?

My work is on climate change adaptation, specifically on sustaining small-scale fisheries in SE Asian reefs under climate change. Our research has converged on a range of policy and implementation recommendations, including gendered climate change mitigation toolkits.

What are the big issues that SB64 needs to address?

There are diverse implementation and policy recommendations for each climate change adaptation challenge. SB64 should ensure paths to sustainable, long-term financing to these solutions which often do not cost a lot, but require a long-term, continuous engagement and commitment.

What are your hopes for the conference?

I want to see the re-commitment of developed nations to supporting local-led climate change research and impact mitigation activities. I want to see G77 & China work closely together to support agreements that bring mutual benefit cross-borders.
