Project: Investigating the ethics of climate services; Comparative advantages and considerations of public vs. private climate service providers

My project explores the ethical questions and concepts within climate services. Specifically, it aims to identify and problematize ethical quandaries within the field; consider issues of reach and equity in climate service privatisation; provide the foundation for developing a climate services code of ethics in the UK; examine whether climate services should be regulated, how, and by whom; and explore the practicality of developing a climate services profession. By grounding half of the research within climate science and half within philosophy – while also drawing from the fields of linguistics, network analysis, and the history of science – this research aims to provide a series of truly interdisciplinary publications that will improve the just provision of climate services both in the UK and beyond.
