Piers Sellers prize 2018 marks lifelong contribution to climate solutions

Professor Mark New of Cape Town University in South Africa has been awarded the Piers Sellers Prize for a world leading contribution to solutions focused climate research by the Priestley International Centre for Climate.

The award was given in recognition of Mark New’s lifelong contribution as a global leader in the interdisciplinary integration of climate and development research. The presentation was made by Priestley Centre Director, Prof Piers Forster, at a special event on Monday 19 March 2018 at the University of Leeds, where Mark New delivered a lecture on Cape Town’s water crisis.

Prof New is director of the African Climate and Development Initiative, as well as being the Pro-VC for Climate Change at the University of Cape Town and AXA Research Fund Chair in African Climate Risk.
