Drax generates 7% of the UK’s electricity, 70% of which – enough to power Leeds, Manchester, Sheffield and Liverpool – is now made using compressed wood pellets rather than coal.

Dr Rebecca Heaton, Head of Sustainability and Policy at Drax Power Station near Selby in North Yorkshire, will talk about the process of converting Drax’s power generation from coal to biomass and the importance of getting sustainability right – including within the global wood supply chains.
