Merchants of Doubt is a documentary by Robert Kenner and Eric M Conway that looks at “pundits-for-hire who present themselves as scientific authorities as they speak about topics like toxic chemicals, pharmaceuticals and climate change” (IMDB). Based on the 2010 book of the same name by Naomi Oreskes and Eric Conway, the film shows how fossil fuel lobbyists used the tactics formerly employed by the tobacco industry to shift the  focus from science to political opinion, attacking the credibility of climate scientists , overturning solid political consensus  and spreading doubt.
