Data Analytics and Sustainability Research Group launch

Date
Date
Thursday 25 May 2017, 14:30 - 15:30
Venue
School of Earth and Environment North block Seminar room 10.125
Speaker
Viktoria Spaiser and Anne Owen, Sustainability Research Institute (SRI)

At this launch event Viktoria Spaiser and Anne Owen will briefly present their research work to get this newly founded research group started and to showcase examples where data analytics can be useful in sustainability research.

The goal of the research group is to bring together researchers from across the University – who work with big datasets and develop advanced models and methods that could be applicable in the sustainability research – and sustainability researchers who would like to make use of recent methodological development in their research.

The research group is open to faculty as well as PhD students and postdoctoral researchers.

The aim of the group is to organise a regular research seminar series where group members can present their research (including introducing new methodological developments) and pitch their research ideas, potentially looking for collaborators.

The group will be interdisciplinary and we hope to attract researchers from the School of Earth and Environment as well as researchers from the School of Mathematics, School of Geography, Leeds Institute for Data Analytics, and others involved in sustainability research.

Please subscribe to the mailing list for the group if you are interested in getting involved or getting updates on the activities of the group, particularly if you are not able to attend the launch event.  Later we will also establish a web presence for the group.
