A new generation of climate models, COVID-19 and the Paris Agreement

Wednesday 2 December 2020, 15:00

Join the CONSTRAIN team for this UNFCCC Climate Dialogues Special Event which will bring together some of the latest scientific knowledge on climate modelling, global climate policy, and the climate impact of COVID-19 into a coherent narrative.

Specifically, it will highlight how a new generation of climate models, CMIP6, is informing our understanding of future temperature change, what this tells us about meeting the Paris Agreement’s ambition of limiting temperature rise to 1.5°C, and how climate action can move forward in the light of COVID-19.

Speakers include leading researchers from the Horizon 2020-funded CONSTRAIN consortium with a broader panel of stakeholders including policy makers, NGOs and communications specialists.

Confirmed speakers:

Dr Kasia Tokarska, ETH Zurich

Dr Carl-Friedrich Schleussner, Climate Analytics

Professor Piers Forster, Priestley International Centre for Climate, University of Leeds

With a panel discussion moderated by Dr Joeri Rogelj, Grantham Institute, Imperial College London
